My second week after a major move from Philadelphia to Chicago, my new friend Ilknur asked if I wanted to form a bowling team, and we started spitballing on names. “What about the Imperial Menopause?” joked Risa, another friend. Imperial made Ilknur think Star Wars, which led me to get very excited about matching outfits.

We spent the rest of our afternoon looking for high-collared black poplin shirts with both the menacing, no-nonsense collar and just enough give to swing our arms. Jessica ‘Danger’ Dangieri rounded out our core team. We landed on the Imperial Menopausal Army. Dark Lord, Danger, Princess Wanna Leia, and me, Boba Fête. //
