EXCERPT //

Beatles in Bossa’s puckish mashup of Brazilian rhythms and Fab Four songs—perfect for mischief-making on a gauzy summer night—was inspired by a journey that King and Haddad took in August of 2017. “We were on our way to meet friends in Oregon to view a solar eclipse,” the pair wrote to RQ. “While driving through the expansive western landscape we began to conceptualize a new show, reimagining Beatles songs with Brazilian rhythms. With just our voices inside the car and playing rhythms on the steering wheel and dashboard, we journeyed for hours, singing and gathering ideas, while simultaneously viewing timeless geologic forms against the blue sky. Inspiration and creativity deepened as melodies and lyrics seeped into our psyche and began to translate classic Beatles songs into our Brazilian musical language.”
